Argentine Foreign Minister Susana Malcorra stressed today the importance of “strengthening our bilateral relations with the Russian Federation and doing everything that is necessary to improve investment, economic and trade exchange processes between our countries, including the private sector."
Ms. Malcorra gave a statement after meeting in Moscow with her Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov, with whom she addressed different items on the bilateral agenda, the situation in the current world scenario and the enhancement of mutual areas of cooperation.
"We estimate that, over the next four years, investments in the amount of 100,000 million dollars will be made in infrastructure," Ms. Malcorra announced with regard to projections of public works in Argentina.
The Argentine Foreign Minister travelled to Russia with the Governor of the Province of Neuquén, Mr. Omar Gutiérrez, officers of the Departments of Public Works, of Energy, of the Argentine Investment Promotion Agency, and a business delegation.
"We had a very important exchange with the private sector, with banks involved in specific project financing. Argentina and Russia have so much ahead of them in terms of trade, economy, culture and sports. As regards the Eurasian Economic Commission, we will seek to further the strengthening of relations between them and Mercosur."
The Argentine Foreign Minister arrived in Moscow yesterday and was received by the Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission, Tigran Sargsyan, with whom she addressed issues of common interest to the respective regional blocs, the EAEU and MERCOSUR.
After that, Ms. Malcorra met with the Vice Chairman of Russia’s Federal Assembly State Duma, Alexander Zhukov, and with representatives of the Parliamentary Friendship Group with Argentina of the Duma.
She then had a meeting with authorities of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry and business leaders of the Russian Federation, during which she presented the existing trade and investment opportunities in the Argentine Republic.
During her visit to Moscow, Ms. Malcorra laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and at the site where Russian cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin's ashes are buried, on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of the first manned mission to space.
