Regarding the detention of two youths with links to the Muslim community, the Argentine Secretariat for Worship notes that this judicial decision does not have any religious connotation and cannot be interpreted as the persecution of a community for their religious beliefs.
Interfaith diversity and coexistence in Argentina are a feature recognized by the international community. Throughout our history, the Muslim community has greatly contributed to the development of Argentina. Its constant contributions, along with those of all other communities and faith traditions, enrich and strengthen the Argentine social fabric.
The Argentine Government is always open to dialogue with all religious beliefs, through the leaders and members of each community.
The actions carried out by members of the security forces exclusively arise from judicial decisions.
In this regard, the Secretariat calls for objective dialogue instead of speculations, so as to end mistrust and bring reassurance to the members of the Muslim community.
