Today, Presidents Mauricio Macri and Donald Trump held a working breakfast in the context of the visit by the President of the United States to Argentina for the G20 Summit.
At the meeting held at the Argentine Government House, both Presidents underscored that Argentina and the United States share common values, principles and interests such as defending democracy, promoting prosperity and development, defending and securing human rights; all of which lay a solid foundation for a fruitful and mature bilateral relationship, in addition to enabling close cooperation on multiple work areas for the benefit of both countries.
President Trump reaffirmed his support for President Macri's economic reform process and for Argentina's OECD membership bid. Both Presidents expressed their satisfaction with the strengthening of bilateral economic relations and the opportunities arising for Argentina and the United States. The renewed flow of American investments in Argentina, especially in the fields of infrastructure and energy, was highlighted.
They underscored the successful completion of the market opening process for various products, especially beef, and reaffirmed their commitment to continue working together in order to strategically strengthen economic relations and expand trade exchanges.
President Macri thanked the United States for its cooperation in the fight against drug trafficking, among other aspects of the bilateral relationship, and highlighted Argentina's commitment to the fight against terrorism, organized crime and corruption.
The leaders also considered regional affairs and stressed the importance of strengthening democracy and full respect for human rights throughout the continent.
During President Trump's visit, various agreements on education, infrastructure and energy, investments, transport and aviation safety were also signed.
