The volunteer team of the White Helmets Commission of the Argentine Foreign Ministry is already working in Trujillo, the third most populated city in Peru, capital of La Libertad Department and one of the areas hardest hit by the natural disaster affecting the Andean country.

The Argentine volunteer team, which is composed of experts in water treatment and natural disasters, went through the neighbourhoods of Trujillo and talked to the people living there to find out about their most pressing needs, so as to follow the action plan designed with local authorities. The team also shared their knowledge and experience with the people, in order to mitigate the effects brought about by the disaster.

Yesterday, the President of Peru, Pedro Pablo Kuczynski, greeted the Head of the White Helmets Commission of the Foreign Ministry, Alejandro Daneri, whom he thanked for the humanitarian aid received based on the specific requirements set out by the Government of Peru.

Last Tuesday, the Argentine Foreign Ministry, through the White Helmets Commission and the Ministry of Defence, launched the Argentine humanitarian mission that arrived at Lima on an Air Force C-130 Hercules aircraft. The team delivered 40 boxes of water purification tablets for the treatment of over 8 million litres of water, as well as 1000 blankets. Furthermore, the plane and its crew will collaborate on an airlift task to link isolated cities and communities in northern Peru.
