Visit by the International Narcotics Control Board (INCB)

Today, Deputy Foreign Minister Carlos Foradori received a delegation from the International Narcotics Control Board (INCB), a United Nations independent and quasi-judicial monitoring body for the implementation of international drug control conventions.  

At the meeting, the Argentine Deputy Foreign Minister described the current situation in the field and reviewed the delegation's agenda in Argentina. The delegation initiated its official visit today and is comprised of Professor Francisco Thoumi and Doctor Stefano Berterame.

The INCB will meet with the highest authorities of national organizations in the field, such as the National Administration of Drugs, Food and Medical Devices (ANMAT), the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights, the Financial Information Unit (UIF), the Office of the Prosecutor for Drug Related Crimes (PROCUNAR), the Secretariat of Programming for Drug Addiction Prevention and Fight against Drug Trafficking (SEDRONAR), the General Customs Administration, and the Ministry of Security.   

The visit is part of a policy against drug trafficking, one of the three pillars of the Argentine Government's policy. The aim is to cooperate with all countries, as well as with international organizations related to the World Drug Problem, for the purpose of strengthening and improving on our country's actions against the scourge of drugs. 

The INCB delegation extended to Deputy Foreign Minister Foradori its appreciation for the Argentine Government's invitation, and thanked the Argentine authorities for their disposition to guarantee the success of the visit.
