With the aim of strengthening bilateral relations and promoting Argentina as a favourable, attractive destination for investment and trade, Vice President Gabriela Michetti made an official visit to Korea with an important delegation.
The agenda, coordinated by the Argentine Embassy in Seoul, included meetings with the Korean Prime Minister, Hwang Kyo-Ahn, with the President, Park Geun-Hye, and with the Speaker of the National Assembly, Chung Ui Hwa.
In addition, the Vice President participated in a high-level forum with Korean businesspersons and entities, together with a large delegation comprised of the Vice Minister of Finance, Pedro Lacoste; the Secretary for Trade, Miguel Braun; the Secretary for Industry and Services, Martín Etchegoyen; the Secretary for Mining, Daniel Meilán; the Undersecretary for Export Promotion and Investment Development of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Worship, Marcelo Lucco; the President of the International Investment and Trade Agency, Juan Procaccini; and the Director of Investment at the Foreign Ministry, Alfredo Bascou.
Some of their noted counterparts at the meeting were Korea Eximbank; Ksure; Kita; Kotra; Posco; Samsung Electronics and Hyundai Engineering & Construction.
The Argentine Republic and the Republic of Korea initiated their diplomatic relations on 15 February 1962. Korea is currently one of Argentina's main business partners in Asia. The Korean economy is among the world’s thirteen largest and most dynamic economies.
