National Coordination meeting on G20 topics

On 9 May 2017, a national coordination meeting was held by the Foreign Ministry at the Palacio San Martín with the different Ministries and Bodies of the Federal Government that participate in the work groups of the G20 Sherpas channel and Finance channel.

The meeting was chaired by the Argentine Sherpa for the G20, Ambassador Beatriz Nofal. The participants addressed the different topics dealt with by all the G20 groups, both of the Sherpas channel and the Finance channel. As regards the Sherpas channel, the following groups and work areas are worth noting: Trade and Investment, Employment, Digital Economy, Agriculture, Development, Sustainability, Health and Anti-corruption.

At the meeting, the Foreign Ministry continued with the coordination of Argentina’s position in and contribution to the G20 under the 2017 German Presidency, and with the identification of priorities for the 2018 Argentine Presidency of the G20. The following Ministries and Federal Bodies participated in the meeting: Ministry of Agro-industry; Ministry of Health; Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security; Ministry of Social Development; Ministry of Treasury; Ministry of Energy and Mining; Ministry of Communications; Ministry of Modernization; Ministry of Production; Ministry of Science, Technology and Productive Innovation; Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development; Office of the Chief of Cabinet of Ministers; Ministry of Education; Ministry of Justice; Anti-corruption Office; Central Bank and the Federal Administration of Public Revenues (AFIP).

This meeting is usually held prior to each meeting of the Sherpas for the G20, and constitutes an opportunity to define the country’s position concerning the treatment of topics with a focus on the upcoming G20 Leaders Summit to be held on July 7-8 in Hamburg, Germany.
