Today, the Argentine Foreign Minister, Susana Malcorra, attended the "Investing in Argentina" Forum held in Madrid, during which she stated: "Spain and Argentina share a very similar worldview. We have been great promoters of the sustainable development agenda and we have shared the entire climate change agenda. We have a common agenda on peace, global security and human rights."
Alongside the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Government of Spain, Alfonso Dastis Quecedo, Malcorra assured: "We share a strong affinity with Spain. I say 'affinity' because what that conveys goes beyond the formality of any agreements signed -and we have signed many of them- so that we can make progress on this agenda in a coordinated fashion."
At the meeting between Spanish and Argentine businesspeople, Malcorra added: "These are the issues which go beyond economic activity that change people's lives. The way we see the world has an impact on citizens' daily lives. We cannot automatically attain global sustainability and the elimination of inequalities and disparities, which for us, with one third of our population below the poverty threshold, is essential."
“The President says 'that is the benchmark against which my administration is to be measured’. So, coming back to the economy: we need Spain to aim to become the top investor in Argentina once more and to believe that the economic ties which have united us in the past will do so again, because that is what we are betting on." the Foreign Minister stated.
