Foreign Ministers of Argentina and Chile announced meeting of High-Level Group on Free Movement of Persons

Foreign Ministers Susana Malcorra and Heraldo Muñoz held a working meeting at the Argentine Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Worship in which they discussed several issues regarding bilateral relations and exchanged views on the regional and international situation.

As a result of the meeting, the Foreign Ministers decided to convene as soon as possible the High-Level Group on Free Movement of Persons, in accordance with the commitments made by both parties in the 8th Argentina-Chile Binational Meeting of Ministers held in Buenos Aires last December 16.

Both Foreign Ministers also agreed to convene, during the third or fourth trimester of this year, a meeting of the Southern Integration Commission. 

Furthermore, they commended the advances made in the 1st Round of Negotiation for the expansion and strengthening of economic and commercial agreements in force, held in Buenos Aires last 8 and 9 March and, within the framework of the working plan agreed on by the parties to move forward in the negotiation in order to conclude it within this year, they pointed out that the next meeting will be held in Santiago de Chile in May 2017.
