Assistance for Argentine citizens affected by hurricane Irma in Saint Martin (Update)

Sunday, 10 September 2017
Information for the Press N°:
382/17 y 383/17

The Argentine Foreign Ministry informs that:

In view of the disaster resulting from the successive hurricanes that have hit the Caribbean, and particularly Saint Martin Island, the Argentine Foreign Ministry continues to work actively in the evacuation and return to Argentina of the Argentine citizens concerned.

A group of nine Argentine citizens has been evacuated on a ferry to Guadalupe Island by French authorities and actions are being coordinated to bring them to Argentina via Panama.

The Argentine Foreign Ministry is working to evacuate all the affected Argentine citizens as soon as possible and to the extent feasible, subject to the climate conditions and to the island's infrastructure operating conditions.

The Office of Consular Affairs of the Foreign Ministry is keeping contact with the affected Argentine citizens and their families, providing them with information on the steps to be followed so as to coordinate the evacuation procedure.

We wish to bring reassurance to all the families of Argentine citizens that are still on the island.
