Yesterday, the Undersecretary for Foreign Affairs of the Argentine Foreign Ministry, Gustavo Zlauvinen, participated in the 17th International Doha Forum, under the slogan "Development, Stability and the Refugee Crisis".

His participation focused on the legal framework for refugee aid in Argentina and on the policies implemented by the Argentine Government to assist refugees and other individuals affected by the Syrian conflict. He specifically addressed the Syria Programme to facilitate the issuance of humanitarian visas for foreigners affected by the crisis in that country, as well as the deployment of a White Helmets humanitarian mission to Lebanon in May 2016, in order to meet the pressing health needs of refugees.

The Doha Forum is organized by the Qatari Government, with a view to promoting dialogue and discussion on political, economic, regional and international issues. Its past 16 editions have gathered experts from around the world, scholars, decision makers, politicians, specialists, businesspeople and civil society organizations. Discussions centre around issues pertaining to regional stability, global prosperity and contemporary challenges to achieving them.

Argentina has participated in the Doha Forum since 2013, represented by high-ranking officials.
