Today, at a ceremony headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Carlos Foradori and Vietnam Ambassador to Argentina Nguyen Dinh Thao, Argentina and Vietnam signed the “Agreement on the Exercise of Remunerated Activities for Dependent Family Members of Diplomatic, Consular, Administrative and Technical Staff assigned to Diplomatic Missions, Consular Offices and International Organizations”.
The purpose of this agreement is to allow dependent family members of officials of one country to engage in remunerated activities in the territory of the other.
During the ceremony, Mr. Foradori stated that the signing of this agreement is evidence of the intention of the National Government to further strengthen the existing excellent bilateral relations for the benefit of the nationals of both countries. In this respect, he said he is hopeful that this agreement will be a starting point for the signing of other agreements that are under negotiation, which, once executed, will enhance exchanges and will reflect that firm intention of Argentina’s foreign policy.
For his part, the Vietnamese Ambassador welcomed that commitment and expressed his willingness to continue working to that end on behalf of his country.
Argentina and Vietnam established diplomatic relations in 1973. Nowadays, Vietnam is one of Argentina’s major trade partners in Asia, being the third main destination for Argentine exports in that region.
