The Argentine Foreign Minister, Susana Malcorra, and the Ambassador of the United States, Noah Mamet, presided over the meeting held today at the Palacio San Martin for the signing of agreements between the governments of Argentina and the United States. Malcorra stated that: “This signals a new way of working, through mature and intelligent relations between equals that help us build a better future, as we were told by President Macri". “It is an important day for all of us and we have begun by signing agreements and statements that mark a new path of joint work. This is clearly the beginning of a journey. We have a lot of work ahead of us. Many of the things on which we agree today imply a significant change in our way of relating to each other. Therefore, we are putting our full dedication and effort into achieving this”, the Argentine Foreign Minister said. The Minister of Security, Patricia Bullrich, and the Minister of the Interior, Public Works and Housing, Rogelio Frigerio, participated in the signing of the following agreements: 1) Agreement between the Ministry of Security of the Argentine Republic and the Department of Justice and Homeland Security of the United States of America on Enhancing Cooperation in Preventing and Combating Serious Crime. 2) Joint Statement on Security Cooperation and Travel Facilitation between the Ministry of Security and the Ministry of the Interior, Public Works and Housing of the Argentine Republic and the Department of Justice and Homeland Security of the United States of America. 3) Agreement between the Argentine Republic and the United States of America concerning the Deployment of In-Flight Security Officers. 4) Trade and Investment Framework Agreement between the Government of the Argentine Republic and the Government of the United States. Furthermore, a Joint Statement between the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Worship of the Argentine Republic and the Secretary of State of the United States in support of the Organization of American States and the Inter-American System of Human Rights was agreed upon. The signing of these agreements is part of a package including, among others, the Memorandum of Understanding on Preventing Money Laundering between the Financial Information Unit (UIF) of the Argentine Republic and the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FINCEN) of the United States.
