258/17

On June 21-23, the 3rd Round for the negotiation of a free trade agreement between Argentina and Chile was held.

During the three days of sessions, the technical teams of both Parties made significant progress on an instrument that will constitute a new generation agreement aimed at affording more certainty to economic operators and development opportunities for Argentine and Chilean businesspeople.

The delegations worked pragmatically, maximizing efforts to reach the necessary consensus so as to sign the new agreement within three months. On that basis, the negotiation teams have so far concluded ten chapters and made significant progress with the remaining chapters.

The 4th Round of Negotiations will take place in Chile on August 16-18. Also, with the aim of finalizing the remaining chapters, intersessional technical meetings will be held.

This new round of negotiations has once again shown the Argentine and Chilean Governments' firm political will to advance bilateral integration, in order to strengthen their current economic and trade relations and to generate incentives for more investment and initiatives for productive development.
