Foreign Minister Diana Mondino held a meeting this afternoon with the President of the Institute for the Promotion of Argentine Beef (IPCVA), Jorge Grimberg, and they discussed strategies to boost Argentine beef exports to the region and to the rest of the world, the opening of new markets, the expansion of quotas and the negotiations of the MERCOSUR-European Union free trade agreement.

Mondino redoubled the Foreign Ministry’s commitment in support of promotion campaigns in strategic markets as defined by the IPCVA, improving access conditions and boosting the whole livestock sector as a whole

Argentine beef exports accumulated throughout last year hovered at 932,000 tonnes of boned beef and 112,000 tonnes of bovine bones, for over USD 2.687 billion.

In November 2023, exports of beef and bovine bones saw an 18.4% increase vis-à-vis October 2023 and an 11.9% increase vis-à-vis November 2022, considering shipped volumes in product weight tonnes (excluding offal and viscera).

The main destination market for Argentine bovine exports is the People’s Republic of China, with 47.7 thousand tonnes (accounting for 64% of the total exported value in terms of foreign currency), followed by Germany, with 2.2 thousand tonnes (accounting for 9.6% of beef exports) and, thirdly, by Chile, with 1.8 thousand tonnes (accounting for 5.6% of the sector’s export market).

At the meeting with Foreign Minister Mondino, Grimberg was joined by IPCVA’s Vice-President, Daniel Urcía; Board Member Mario Ravettino, and the Head of External Promotion, Sergio Rey.
