Foreign Minister Diana Mondino met today with the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway, Halvor Sætre, and they addressed the most significant topics concerning the highly positive and longstanding bilateral relationship. The main cooperation efforts carried out by both countries include, among others, joint Antarctic research activities.
Norway is also an increasingly important investor in Argentina: it is the 12th largest European investor, with companies focusing on the maritime, oil and gas sectors. In this respect, the Norwegian diplomat stated that Norwegian companies are interested in new sectors, such as fertilizers, and welcomed the measures introduced by the Argentine Government, aimed at affording predictability for foreign investments.
In connection with the MERCOSUR-EFTA agreement, Mondino and Sætre discussed the upcoming visit to Argentina by a delegation of Members of Parliament from the EFTA Member States (Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland) and they expressed their enthusiasm about the progress of negotiations.
Finally, Ambassador Sætre welcomed the OECD accession process commenced by Argentina.
