The Argentina-Chile Joint Border Commission met on 23 July 2024 at Cape Espiritu Santo, Isla Grande, Tierra del Fuego to review Border Landmark I-I, set the limit of the fence extending from that landmark northwards, and install signs to identify the boundary line.
These activities have been carried out in preparation for the Extraordinary Meeting to be held by the Joint Commission in Buenos Aires next November to develop a Work Plan aimed at obtaining the coordinates of all border landmarks in Tierra del Fuego, including the coordinates of border landmark Punta Dungeness Lighthouse (II-I) in the Geodetic Reference System for the Americas (SIRGAS). In addition, the Plan will seek to link landmarks I-I and II-I to the SIRGAS system, in accordance with Article 10 of the Treaty of Peace and Friendship.
