Over the critical situation after the earthquake and tsunami
Today, the Argentine Republic, through the White Helmets Commission, shipped humanitarian supplies to mitigate the critical situation of the inhabitants of the Province of Sulawesi in the Republic of Indonesia, after the severe earthquake and tsunami that hit Indonesia on 28 September, leaving thousands of victims and a great number of displaced persons as a result of material damage.
The supplies are comprised of water purification tablets for use in 3,300,000 litres of water, making it safe for human consumption. The Indonesian Ministry of Health will be in charge of receiving and distributing the supplies among those affected.
A few days ago, President Macri expressed Argentina´s condolences to his Indonesian counterpart, Joko Widodo, conveying Argentina´s solidarity in the face of the tragedy. The Argentine Foreign Ministry also expressed its condolences.
Humanitarian assistance was offered by Argentina and accepted by the Republic of Indonesia, whose government officials thanked Argentine diplomats on behalf of the Indonesian people.
