Argentina participated in Miami Art Week 2024, a key event for the commercial promotion and internationalization of Argentine visual arts, which took place from December 2 to 8 in Miami, United States of America.
A trade mission coordinated by the Foreign Ministry, in collaboration with the Argentine Consulate General and Promotion Center in Miami, the Argentine Agency for Investment and International Trade (AAICI), the arteba Foundation and MERIDIANO (Argentine Chamber of Contemporary Art Galleries), was carried out with the aim of promoting and positioning Argentine talent in the global art market. Nineteen Argentine art galleries participated in the mission and took part in the main fairs: Isla Flotante, Ruth Benzacar, Jorge Mara-La Ruche, PIEDRAS, BARRO and ROLF ART at Art Basel Miami Beach; Constitución, VIGILGONZALES and Tramo at Untitled; Subsuelo, Imaginario, Pabellón 4, LUOGO, Valerie's Factory, ANKARA, Maman Fine Art, The White Lodge and Crudo at Pinta Miami; and Calvaresi at NADA.
The trade mission included strategic activities such as a networking event, exclusive guided tours for potential buyers and positioning actions in important digital art platforms in Miami. In addition, the Argentine Creative Directory of Art Galleries (https://www.cancilleria.gob.ar/es/directorios-argentina-creativa/galeria...), a tool designed by the Foreign Ministry to connect the Argentine art ecosystem with international markets, was presented at the Pinta Fair. Also -in collaboration with Marca País- postcards with access to information on Argentine art galleries were distributed in prominent Argentine restaurants in Miami.
The networking event “Argentine Art Scene” took place on December 2 at Casa Faena and was attended by more than 100 people. Argentine Consul General in Miami, Marcelo Gilardoni, opened the event and remarks were made by representatives of the arteba Foundation and Ruth Benzacar Art Gallery, a Meridiano partner. The guided tours were led by the Executive Director of the arteba Foundation, Lucrecia Palacios, who offered tours of the national artistic proposals at the four fairs, aimed at collectors, curators and international buyers, among others.
Participation in Miami Art Week 2024 represented an opportunity to consolidate the commercial promotion of Argentine art and underscore its creativity, innovation and international projection. This effort reaffirms Argentina's commitment to the internationalization of its cultural industries and the strengthening of ties between national talent and the global art market.
