On Wednesday 10 and Thursday 11, Argentina participated in the Plenary Meeting of the Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG), held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
The Plenary Meeting took place during Brazil's Chairmanship of the NSG. The Argentine delegation was made up of officials from the Foreign Ministry and the Nuclear Regulatory Authority (ARN). Argentina is a member of the NSG troika, as it was the previous Chair of the Group, during the 2022-2023 period.
The NSG is a group of 48 nuclear technology supplier countries that seeks to contribute to the non-proliferation of nuclear weapons, through the implementation of guidelines for the export of nuclear related dual-use items and technologies.
Our country has a long tradition as a responsible supplier of nuclear technology. Argentina has been a member of the NSG since 1994 and has been elected Chair of the Group on four occasions.
The Argentine Republic congratulates the Federative Republic of Brazil on its successful Chairmanship during the 2023-2024 period and also congratulates South Africa for its recent election as Chair for the 2024-2025 period.
