Argentina was elected yesterday as member of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) for the next three years. Our country received 182 votes, ranking first among the countries in our region.
Rejoining ECOSOC provides Argentina with an opportunity to ratify its deep commitment to multilateralism and to the UN economic and social development agenda. The purpose of the Economic and Social Council is to advance the three dimensions of sustainable development (economic, social and environmental) and coordinate international efforts in these areas.
