Today, Foreign Minister Diana Mondino received the European Union Commissioner for Energy, Kadri Simson, at the San Martín Palace, who developed an intense work agenda during her visit to Argentina.
During the meeting, Mondino referred to Argentina's capacity and commitment to be a strategic and reliable partner in the generation and supply of energy, particularly those vectors linked to the energy transition (LNG, renewable energies and critical minerals, hydrogen, and low carbon derivatives).
Commissioner Simson underlined the importance that the European Union attaches to the diversification of energy suppliers, especially since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine and highlighted Argentina’s potential in this field.
In this regard, the Minister of Foreign Affairs highlighted the Argentine government's commitment to economic stabilization and the promotion of investments and highlighted that our country needs to continue developing not only its productive energy capacities but also the infrastructure necessary to bring its production to international markets.
The Foreign Minister also reiterated her interest in maintaining the conditions for the entry of Argentine soy biodiesel into the European market.
Finally, both officials also addressed the progress of the negotiations for the MERCOSUR-EU Strategic Association Agreement and the process of Argentina's accession to the OECD.
