Foreign Minister Diana Mondino received the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt in Argentina, Mohamed Ibrahim Kazem, with whom she reviewed the development of the bilateral political and commercial agenda.

Furthermore, the Argentine Minister and the Egyptian Ambassador addressed ongoing scientific-technological cooperation initiatives, including cooperation on the peaceful use of nuclear energy, as well as bilateral cooperation projects under negotiation and the coordination of actions in multilateral forums. In addition, regarding cooperation on educational matters, the Minister and the Ambassador discussed various possibilities to increase bilateral exchanges at university level.

On the other hand, Mondino and Kazem highlighted the need to achieve a sustainable and lasting peace between Israelis and Palestinians. It is worth highlighting that, as a result of its mediating role between the parties, Egypt has positioned itself as a relevant actor in the framework of the crisis in the Middle East and has contributed - in November 2023 and February of the current year – to the release of hostages, including several Argentines among them.

The Arab Republic of Egypt is one of the main commercial partners of our country in the African continent. In 2023, total bilateral trade between both countries exceeded USD 1,000 million, with great potential for expansion, both due to its growing population and its high demand for agri-food and meat products.
